Camping News 3.2017

March 12, 2017

Do you have older Boy Scouts that are not attending summer camp because they are looking for something more challenging than the normal camp?  Have they looked at the specialty camps being offered?  These camps are provisional and Scouts are allowed to attend as individuals.

  • Ranger Program – the high adventure backcountry program at S-F
  • Catholic Adventure – Swift Base camp with lots of high adventure activities for Catholic youth
  • Eagle Trail – Famous Eagle camp with a focus on Eagle advancement activities
  • STEM Week – STEM-based merit badges and activities at Beaumont Scout Reservation
  • Horse Camp – A week of horse camp for Boy Scouts and Venturers
  • Boy Scout Week @ Swift Base – A week of high adventure for Boy Scouts, Troop focus

This year the Swift Base Venturing camps have been opened to all Boy Scouts that are age 14 and older as a provisional camp.  So if you have individual Scouts that are interested in one of those programs, help them sign up.

For 2017 the Central Region will host two COPE & Climbing conferences.  Conference topics will include discussions on standards, current industry practices, council training of level 2 instructors, Inter-council collaborative programming, and updates on recent COPE/Climbing Task Force activities.
