• Join us for a night of fun, fellowship and good food at the Shawnee District Dinner! All youth and adults in Scouting are welcome to attend. Tuesday, January 15 is the deadline for all Scouting and District Award of Merit nominations. Please RSVP at https://scoutingevent.com/312-2019ShawneeDinner

• Sixty-seven Eagle Scouts from Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois will be honored at Southeast Missouri State University on Saturday, February 9th at 2:00 PM in Academic Auditorium at the 56^th Annual Eagle Scout Court of Honor. Congressman Jason Smith will provide the keynote address and present the Eagle Scout medals to each Scout. The event is free and open to the public.

• Are you wanting to learn more about Scouting? Join us at University of Scouting on January 26 at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. University of Scouting is a day-long event that offers the widest variety of training opportunities, in all program areas, all in one place! You will find just about anything to do with Scouting at University of Scouting whether you are a Scout, leader, commissioner, or parent! Sign up here.

• The 2019 Camp Card Sale runs February 8 – April 5. Units may sign up online or in person at the Ritter Service Center. All cards must be ordered in sets of 50.

• Friends of Scouting (FOS) is the annual giving campaign of the Greater St. Louis Area Council. The FOS campaign provides 20% of the Council budget every year. That means nearly a quarter of every dollar in the council budget comes from the generosity of Scouting families, alumni and community supporters. Without this funding, our council could not provide the resources necessary to provide a quality, adventure-filled scouting program. The Shawnee District will be doing Friends of Scouting presentations at unit’s special events (Blue & Gold Banquets, Pinewood Derby’s, Court of Honors, etc.). Please email your presentation date to Ashley.metelski@scouting.org.

• Merit Badge University at Southeast Missouri State University is February 23. Click Here to register online. Registration closes January 27.

The Silver Beaver Award is the highest recognition a Boy Scout council can bestow on an adult volunteer leader. The award is presented to those volunteers who have provided noteworthy service that impacts the lives of youth and who have made outstanding contributions to the Scouting program.
