14286756338_c208a6a0ef_zOur council has three Challenge Courses, one each at Camp Joy, S bar F Scout Ranch, and Beaumont Scout Reservation. The Challenge Course is a program for youths and adults that includes a series of outdoor challenges — beginning with basic group initiative games and progressing to more complicated low-course and high-course activities. Some of these events involve a group effort while others test individual skills and agility. Participants climb, swing, balance, jump and think through solutions to a variety of challenges. Most participants find that they can do much more than they initially thought they could.

Re-qualification info sheet

September 22, 2019 Beaumont REGISTER

If your Instructor card for Challenge Course or Rock Climbing is expired or about to expire, you may get re-qualified for one or both programs on one Sunday afternoon. Pre-register online or bring the $5 fee to training. The re-qualification is rather simple; we give you a pile of gear and ask you to set up a climb, rappel, high course, etc. It is much like a merit badge review. We’ll also tell you about any changes in procedures or equipment.

Your card does not need to expire before being re-qualified. If your card has already expired, you can also be re-qualified. If you were never qualified for one of the programs you can’t be re-qualified.

As of Summer 2018, the Rock Climbing and Rappelling and Challenge Course Instructor manuals were completely rewritten, updated, and now include many color photos.

PDF versions are available online. Both manuals are available to view in single page view (good for smart phone viewing) and two page view (good for computer viewing and printing). You can scroll through them online or download a PDF for offline viewing.

Printed copies are provided to those attending the weekend training and are also available during Re-Qualification events.
