Local Scouts Earn Their Eagle

The rank of Eagle Scout is the highest and most prestigious achievement a Boy Scout can achieve.

Highly respected, the title of Eagle Scout carries with it a special significance not only in Scouting, but also in school, business and the community for a lifetime.

To attain Eagle, a Scout must earn at least 21 merit badges, display leadership and outdoor skills, demonstrate by example the Scout Oath and Law and complete a comprehensive service project in the community.

The following Jefferson County Scouts recently earned the rank of Eagle:

• ZACHARY HELLER, 17, High Ridge, of Troop 535, (the son of Todd and Phyllis Heller), installed two bathroom vanities and a shelf for baby food at Feed My People in High Ridge.

• NICK JAKUBECK, 18, Arnold, of Venturing Crew 2479, (the son of Eric and Sharon Jakubeck) constructed and mounted a messaging board for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department Substation in Imperial.

• SETH OTTO V, 18, Barnhart, of Troop 484, (the son of Seth Otto IV and Kris Otto), beautified the Herculaneum High School campus and created an outdoor dining area for students with the installation of a red paving stone patio and two sidewalks, mulch and bushes outside of the school cafeteria.

• DREW VITELLO, 14, Mehlville, of Troop 501, (the son of Thomas Vitello) created an interactive 3-D mural for the playground at United Methodist Church in Imperial.
